Racers and race fans of the Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals are getting fired up for the TorqStorm Superchargers NMRA/NMCA Power Festival presented by Nitto Tire & Saturday Thrill Festival, which is set for July 19-21, 2024 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan.

It is the fourth of six events this year for NMCA competitors, who are closing in on their chase to championships and position in points.

In addition to all of the on-track action, the event will feature Jurassic Attack Monster Truck car crushes, FMX Freestyle Motocross stunt shows, Tom Bailey’s Drag & Drive Invitational, TV personality Clarence Barnes, giveaways, a car show, a manufacturers’ midway and many memorable moments.

We asked some of our racers what they are looking forward to, and here are their responses.

“We are hoping to keep pace and potentially go a round further than Mr. Robert Glenn in Michigan," said Ed Marx, who is currently in second-place in VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod points in his Camaro-bodied Pro Mod. “He gifted us a round one win in Bowling Green by a red light and I am sure there will be no more favors from his team in Michigan or at any other event. I have the best team supporting and teaching me. It includes Todd and Ty Tutterow, Brad Schmidt and Kristian Blackburn. The track will be on kill, and we are fortunate to be a part of all the weekend’s action.”

“Honesty, I recently redesigned my piston and rod combination in the nitrous-enhanced 465 LS engine that I built at my shop, BTR Performance, for longevity purposes, but my car has not picked up like it should have,” said Bill Trovato, who is currently in the fourth-place in Edelbrock Xtreme Street points and traverses the track in a Fifth Gen Camaro. “I need to test before the race in Michigan, and get my combination dialed in, but I am optimistic because I have help from David Mitchell and Scott Haynes. At this level of racing, nothing is easy."

“I consider U.S 131 Motorsports Park to be my home track, and while I started out slowly this year, I am picking up momentum, and hope to do well there,” said Scott Williams, who has his Malibu running right-on and is currently in seventh-place in MagnaFuel Open Comp points. “More importantly, it looks like we will have about  25 family members and friends with us for this event, and it would mean a lot to me if my wife, Kelly, who is battling cancer, could also come. Our racing family is great, and they always ask about her."

“I love the Michigan race," said David Rickey, who is currently holding down first-place in LME Street King points in his Camaro. "It is a great facility and we always have a good time. I am optimistic about having some success. I had a good race at Bowling Green despite having some minor issues with the car. I believe I have those fixed so I feel confident going in. We are at the halfway point of the season so the points chase is starting to ramp up in intensity and I am excited for it.”

“U.S. 131 Motorsports Park is a great facility with an excellent track surface and a pit area that mirrors a campground life,” said Jeff Toepper, who is currently leading Erson Cams Nostalgia Muscle presented by World Products points in his Camaro. “I am looking forward to seeing my race family, and since it is a dual NMCA and NMRA event, there are always a lot of participants. I am fortunate to be in a good position in points this first half of the season, and my goal at this event is to focus on my lane, be consistent on the tree and keep my car running a solid ET.”
